Hitachi, a japanese company made the fastest elevator in the World. During tests at the CFT Finance Center in Guangzhou, the elevator reached a top speed of 75,6 km/h !
It is a new world record. Before that, the Shanghai Tower went to a top speed of 69 km/h.
For the actual CFT Center Finance tower, the elevators will be able to reach a speed of 72 km/h.
The technology used for these elevators will be use again by Hitachi in order to build elevators even faster.
What about security ?
In order to reach that speed, measures were taken to ensure the comfort and safety of users. The elevators of the CFT Center Finance are equipped with brakes designed in heat resistant materials. The frame also absorbs vibrations. In addition, the air pressure is technologically adjusted to protect people's ears.
Currently, only three skyscrapers in the world have an elevator that can exceed 60 km/h. The third one is Taipei 101 in Taiwan, whose elevator has a speed of 61 km/h.
In the top 10, there are also 3 Chinese skyscrapers and two Japanese. Dubai and Chicago to complete this list. All the elevators on this list have a speed of over 32 km/h.
